Sheepskins for Sale

IMG_5994
As part of our commitment to using the whole beast, we offer hides selected from our flock of Wiltshire Horn, Dorper and Damara sheep. Our sheep are born, raised, grazed and tanned entirely on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula. Their skins are ideal for both home decorating or craft applications and each carries variations in pattern, colour and fleece-length. All hides offered retain the wool and a have a soft, suede-like underside.

Damara x Wiltshire Horn sheepskin (#1609)
Dimensions: 70cm wide x 110cm long
Is it just me, or does this spectacular hide have a certain “satellite-photo-of-the-Sahara” vibe to it? Perhaps it’s a visual throwback to the Damara breed’s origins in the drylands of Egypt and Namibia. At any rate, this beautiful skin is dappled brown and even features the occasional black speckle in honour of its Wiltshire Horn maternal line. Get it before we decide we’d rather keep it for ourselves!

Damara x Wiltshire Horn sheepskin (#1610)
Dimensions: 68cm wide x 122cm long
This beautiful skin is dappled brown along the flanks and spine and features the occasional black speckle in honour of its Wiltshire Horn maternal line. Special bonus are the slightly wacky deep pile tufts on the haunches: the mind boggles at the possible applications for these felted twin tussocks.

Damara x Dorper sheepskin (#1611)
Dimensions: 85cm wide x 113cm long (approximately)
This vast, mostly white skin is a break from the usual long, straight fleece routine with an large, central ellipse of springy, tight curls. A vague island of pale brown marks the centre.
SORRY! TOO LATE FOR THIS ONE TOO! SOLD!

Damara x Wiltshire Horn sheepskin (#1612)
Dimensions: 73cm wide x 117cm long (approximately)
This beautiful skin features brown, almost deer-like colouring. The wool along the spine is so soft it should be illegal, fanning out into long, straight hairs along the margins. There is an area scraped back to the leather along the shoulder incurred in the tanning process. Some might call it an imperfection, we prefer “sign of life”.

Wiltshire Horn short-wool sheepskin (#1506)
Dimensions: 68cm wide x 100cm long (approximately)
This venerable Wiltshire Horn hide is a pale white-grey, lightly dappled with black spots. It carries a number of imperfections where the fleece has been scraped back to the leather, marks of a long life spent grazing the Fleurieu hills and the tanning process.
